TABUK: The Association of Prince Fahd bin Sultan Social Program will carry out a series of charitable projects, including the construction of 100 housing units for the poor in Tabuk province to mark the recovery of Crown Prince Sultan from his disease. Tabuk Gov. Prince Fahd bin Sultan said Prince Sultan, who is currently convalescing in the Moroccan city of Agadir, would return to Saudi Arabia shortly. He said the new housing units would be established in Bidae and Qolaiba. “We have also decided to establish seven cultural and sports complexes in the main cities of Tabuk and 10 desalination plants and artesian wells in various parts of the province,” he said, adding that work on the new projects would start during this Ramadan. He said the new cultural and sports complexes would be named after Crown Prince Sultan. He expressed his hope that the charitable activities of Prince Fahd bin Sultan Social Program would be extended to other provinces in the country. “We have already started establishing mosques and constructing wells in various provinces of the Kingdom, under this program,” the governor said. The association was formed after merging Fahd bin Sultan Social Program with Fahd bin Sultan Social Center after the Ministry of Social Affairs approved it. Prince Fahd said the new association would promote charitable work in the province. In a related development, Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Aseeri on Wednesday handed over 12 tons of dates donated by Crown Prince Sultan to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for distribution among Palestinian refugees during Ramadan. |
