JEDDAH: The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) has opened Jeddah Economic Gate, a new Internet site established by the JCCI to provide updated economic, commercial and investment data to the local and international business sectors. The site — http://jeg.org — “is within the ambitions of Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal to provide the most recent economic information to the business sector,” said Lama Abdul Aziz Al-Sulaiman, a member of the board of directors of the JCCI. She added that the new Internet site would be the online economic face of the city that would integrate economic data and services aimed at assisting the business sector. “The site will also help in building an integrated and renewable economic data base about Jeddah,” she said. Lama said under the directives of the former Chairman of the chamber Saleh Al-Turki and with the Gulf Research Center, three main objectives have been established for the Web portal: to document all economic data concerning the Jeddah business community in particular and Saudi Arabia in general; to enable decision-makers, academicians and researchers to easily obtain economic information about Jeddah; and to present the most recent and updated information about various economic sectors. She said the Web portal consisted of eight main sections, including reports and studies that shed light on Saudi economy with official statistics, information about human resources development and foreign trade. “The Jeddah Economic Gate will keep the business community in the city abreast of economic events in the world, the stock exchange, the prices of oil and metals and information about JCCI’s members. Lists of factories and trading establishments in Jeddah are also available,” she said. Al-Sulaiman pointed out that the new site also includes available investment opportunities and feasibility studies about a number of projects compiled with the help of the Saudi Arabian General Investments Authority and other government departments. “The site contains updated news about times and locations of local and international exhibitions and conferences,” she added. |
