JEDDAH, 25 May 2006 — Members of the Beta Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association in the Western Region are being invited to attend a general meeting at the Philippine Consulate General on June 1.

Labor Representative Des Dicang said the meeting will be in preparation for the forthcoming Diamond Jubilee of the group on July 14.

Dicang said Betans in the region will celebrate their 60th founding anniversary by joining other OFW organizations in community activities.

“We wish to celebrate this momentous event by helping the community,” he said, adding that “a group with a common vision can make a big difference in making a better society.”

For inquiries, the following may be contacted: Des Dicang at 05672-96088, Daniel Haji Yousoph at 05642-05342, Willam Achmad Sol at 05027-92300, Joey Genonangan at 05076-70102, Boying Liwag at 05513-02594 or Paul Denoman at 05027-49142.

Many fraternities in the Philippines are notorious for violent initiation rites and fighting with rival groups, but the Beta Sigma is considered as one of the best and most helpful.

Founded on July 14, 1946, at the University of the Philippines, the group is currently chaired by former Philippine Environment Secretary Victor O. Ramos.
