MANAMA, 27 October 2006 — Lebanese star Darine Hadchiti wowed her fans in Bahrain yesterday by performing numbers from her latest albums to a fully packed concert here. Hadchiti’s performance lasted well into the early morning hours with fans from Bahrain, the Gulf, and Lebanese expatriates thronging the concert. “I been wanting to see her in concert since she released her song, but never got the chance earlier,” a young Bahraini female fan said, adding “I got both of her CDs, but she sounds much better live.” Hadchiti’s concert, organized by the Lebanese based Concerto Production Corporation (CPC), was one of a number of shows organized in the Gulf island to celebrate Eid. “The show was a great success, and considering that it was organized at a very short notice I am pleased with the turnout,” said CPC General Manager Rageb Dawe. Dawe, whose group promotes concerts in the Middle East, Australia, Europe, US and Canada, added that he expected Hadchiti to further establish herself on the music scene and turn into one of its star figures. “We are planning her concerts in Dubai, Syria, Jordan, Australia, and the US,” he said. Hadchiti, who was born in a family that is deeply rooted in the world of art, shot to stardom in the Arab world after Arabic music satellite channels began airing her song Eddam El Kal, “In front of Everybody”, in 2005. The song was an instant hit and launched the 25-year-old singer, who studied music at the Lebanese National Conservatory for five years and began singing at the age of 12, into the music world. She solidified her position as a career singer with her latest release Ertah Lik Albi, “You Make My Heart at Ease”. Her journey toward stardom began when she sang before the jury of the “2001-2002 Studio El Fann” show in Lebanon that had launched the careers of many Lebanese singers by winning a bronze medal for her category. |
