Afghanistan, Pakistan discuss attack on spy chief

ANKARA, Turkey: Afghan officials say President Hamid Karzai will present evidence to Pakistan’s leader this week about the attempted assassination of the Afghan spy chief when the two meet in Turkey.
Karzai and Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari are scheduled to meet in Ankara on Tuesday and Wednesday for talks designed to ease tensions and increase bilateral cooperation.
Last week, Afghan intelligence chief Asadullah Khalid was seriously injured when a suicide bomber posing as a Taleban peace envoy detonated an explosive. Karzai has said the attack was organized in Pakistan but was careful not to accuse Islamabad of any role in the blast.
An Afghan government statement said the two leaders would discuss the peace process as well the attack on Khalid “based on evidence and information.”
