Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, state minister and commander of the National Guard, yesterday emphasized the need to confront rumors aimed at damaging the Kingdom’s reputation and undermining its security.
“We have to stand against those who promote these thoughts and try to undermine the Kingdom’s security,” he said referring to rumors that are spread through various communication tools and social media networks.
“We have to confront such rumors with convincing thoughts,” Prince Miteb said while receiving senior National Guard officials and a group of citizens at his office.
Prince Miteb highlighted the Kingdom’s security and stability, saying it is a great blessing from God. “We should follow the instructions of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to work together to protect the Kingdom’s sanctities, achievements and unity,” the commander said.
The reception was attended by top officials including Abdul Mohsen Al-Tuwaijri, assistant deputy commander of the National Guard, Prince Khaled bin Abdul Aziz Al-Muqrin, NG undersecretary, Lt. Gen. Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Lubda, commander of special security brigade, and Lt. Gen. Suleiman bin Muhammad bin Zaeer, head of the military wing.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, spokesman of the Interior Ministry, said there is no truth in statements published about Interior Minister Prince Ahmed and Assistant Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Naif.
The Interior Ministry denies what has been reported about websites of security officials or their participation in the social media, the spokesman said. “It’s just falsification and baseless,” Al-Turki said.
The spokesman is the authorized person to make statements on the ministry. Punitive measures will be taken against those who violate the law, he said.
