Danmerl Boleros went from third to first in the team standings after a back-to-back Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double during the 16th session in the Jeddah Thursday Bowling League 8th Season at the Sultana Mall’s Bowling City here.
For the second straight week Boleros were the top point getter, securing 38 points with Victor Pagayon emulating teammate Ruben Grino by completing a Boleros double when he won the Bowler of the Week award.
Arctic Gold was a distant second on the day in the points race on 31 followed by Clear Shampoo 27, X-Alley 26 and Jem Strikers 23. YRJ Bowlers reutnred 20 points.
Apart from Danmerl’s prodigious display erstwhile league leader Sadia hastened its fall at the top when it could only muster 13 points in a tie with Pin Busters. Only Thumbs-Up was worse than Sadia on 11 points, while D’ Barkads did better on 18.
Boleros could have finished the session perfect on 40 were it not for a Game 3 misstep where they finished third behind Jem Strikers and Clear Shampoo.
Pagayon shot the high series of 690 (245, 247,186) at the helm of a Boleros charge that also netted solid rounds of 658 from Bonnie Garcia and 608 from Jack Jarin. Grino, the previous week’s individual awardee, added 594 to go with the 173-214 from Cesar Monares and 172 from Danny Pamintuan.
Arctic Gold got a boost from the duo of Archie Santos and Robert Bato who drilled 622 and 606. Carlos Constantino had 589 while with two games each were Mao Orolfo 194-174, Pancho Cuevas 210-189 and Andy Yumena 190-183.
Jimmy Urbano carded the night’s third best score of 670 while spearheading Clear Shampoo which collected 585 from Doods Versoza, 563 from Ariel Urquia, a pair of 184s from Raul delos Reyes, 184-171 from Edwin Ronquillo and 150-174 from Simon Ang.
X-Alley had thrived mainly because of the duo of Rihard Antonio 624 and Edward Butardo 622, while Jem Strikers had Paolo Allego as the second best scorer on the night on 683.
Team standings after the 16th week:
1. Danmerl Boleros 411.5 points 2. Sadia 397.5 3. Sarawat-D’ Barkads 395.5 4. Jem Strikers 382.5 5. Clear Shampoo 376.0 6. Arctic Gold 356.5 7. Thumbs-Up 347.0 8. X-Alley 321.0 9. YRJ Bowlers 304.0 10. Pin Busters 237.5
