Mobily slashes Pakistan call rates

By ARAB NEWS

RIYADH: Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) dropped its call rates to flood-hit Pakistan to 66 halalas per minute, the company announced on Saturday.

The new rate will last through the end of August so as Pakistani nationals living in the Kingdom can stay in touch with their loved ones in the bereaved country at all times.

Participating in the relief efforts, Mobily is helping its subscribers participate in the aid initiative launched by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz for the benefit of the Pakistani people. Subscribers can donate SR10 at a time by sending an SMS message to 5565. The sum will be deducted from the subscriber’s prepaid account or added to the postpaid account’s bill, and donated to King Abdullah’s campaign.

Mobily urged its subscribers to participate in the campaign, which happens to coincide with the holy month of Ramadan, saying that it will put all of its resources at the disposal of the campaign.

Mobily has a history of strong participation in such relief campaigns. After King Abdullah ordered a relief for bereaved residents of the Gaza Strip, Mobily launched a free SMS donation service and halved its call rated to Palestine for a whole month.
