UK diplomat’s car attacked by W. Bank students

BIRZEIT, West Bank: Dozens of Palestinian students blocked the car of a British diplomat, some even jumping on the hood, to prevent his speech at a West Bank university.
The consul general, Sir Vincent Fean, was to speak at the Palestinian university of Birzeit yesterday but following the incident, the speech was canceled. As the diplomat arrived in Birzeit and stepped out of the vehicle, several students swarmed around him, blocking his passage. Palestinian security guards pushed him back into the car, which then left.
Activist Saed Qasrawi says the students had intended to organize a peaceful protest against British policy toward Palestinians, but their rally quickly turned into the incident.

OPCW says experts have taken samples in Syria’s Douma

LA HAGUE: Inspectors from the global chemical arms watchdog Saturday took samples in the Syrian town of Douma after an alleged poison gas attack, the body said.
A fact-finding mission from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) visited Douma “today to collect samples for analysis in connection with allegations of chemical weapons use on 7 April 2018. The OPCW will evaluate the situation and consider future steps including another possible visit to Douma,” the organization said in a statement.
