Cool Guys, De Dios dazzle in OFBC 4 + 1 Friday Afternoon League

Cool Guys and Current Bowlers battled each other for honors only to end in all too familiar result: Cool Guys winning their sixth Team of the Week award with a fourth perfect total of 30 points to boot during the 16th session in the Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club (OFBC) 4 + 1 Friday Afternoon League First Season at IN-10-SO lanes in Serafi Megamall here.
This latest installment of accomplishments by the overachieving Cool Guys, who shut out The Transferee 20-0 on total pinfals of 2,348-2,052 and rank points of 10-4, was actually a perfect double courtesy of team captain Jun De Dios who romped off with the men’s Bowler of the Week award after shooting the high series of 635 on lines of 173, 163 and 194.
Current Bowlers, the previous week’s honoree, did blank PCG-Jeddah 20-0 (2,312-2,117 9-5) but their inferior total pinfalls prevented them from overtaking Cool Guys for the team award and had to settle second-best on 29 points.
Lance & 3rdy was the third team to post a shutout, winning by default over Yanbu 4ever and gaining a total of 22 although its total pinfalls of 2,032 only gave it rank points of 2.
In other matches, Fed & AAA defeated Makatifoods 14-6 on total pinfalls of 2,066-1,845 and rank points of 7 and 8 while The Youngsters and RJ Transient Houses drew 10-10 (2,155-2,111 6-4).
Malou Nidoy of RJ Transient Houses was the ladies Bowler of the Week on 608 (197, 169, 167).
Entering the homestretch of eliminations Cool Guys are a cinch to be one of the three waiting teams in the stepladder final at No. 1.
De Dios, meantime, is set to become the player with the most number of Bowler of the Week plum after he captured his fifth individual accolade.
Eidris Mangoda fired 574 in support of De Dios who as Cool Guys skipper also received two-game contributions of 156-141 from Mac Galang, 164-136 from George Mangaliman and 190-162 from Sol Cuenca.
Tom Langa was the main man at Current Bowlers with a solid 602 to go with the 581 by Voi Ycong, 549 by Arnold Banayat 164-153 by team captain Bash Langa and 158 by Robert Gamboa.
Bowling pressure-free, Lance & 3rdy collected 569 from Tirso Bambalan, 522 from Jon Valdesotto, 517 from Jana Delia Felesmina, 135s from Greg Reconday and 119 from Ralph Surreda. Robert De Guzman top-scored at Fed with 602 followed by Ed Cordova 555 and Rudy Valenzuela 529 while Khalid Bustinera added 135-213 and Fedelyn Bustinera 133.
For the Youngsters Vic Gonzales had the leading score of 556 with Toto Lim on 525, Leo Apacible 521, Margie Villasanta 172-157 and Fuly Primo 159.
