Mall ride importer guilty of injuring 12 kids

The Riyadh governor’s office announced yesterday that the company which imported an amusement park ride should be held responsible for the injuries of 12 children who fell from it at Panorama Mall on Feb. 27.
A spokesman said that the committee formed to investigate the incident had concluded that the company was negligent and failed to maintain the ride properly. The ride has been closed down.
He said the case would be referred to the courts on the directive of Riyadh Gov. Prince Khalid bin Bandar, who had stressed that all entertainment operators should maintain their equipment and for officials to carry out regular inspections.
Prince Khalid and his deputy, Prince Turki bin Abdullah, had visited the injured children at King Saud Medical City and King Saud Medical City. Two of the children were seriously injured and the others had minor to medium injuries.

King Salman receives GCC secretary-general in Jeddah

JEDDAH: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, the secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, called on King Salman in Jeddah on Sunday and expressed warm greetings for the holy month of Ramadan.

During the meeting a number of issues related to the Gulf region came under discussion. 

In a separate meeting, ambassadors of different countries called on King Salman on Sunday. The king met Ambassador of Djibouti Dya-Eddin Said Bamakhrama, Eritrean Ambassador Mohammed Omar Mahmoud, Omani Ambassador Ahmed bin Hilal Al-Busaidy, Argentinian Ambassador Jaime Sergio Cerda, Austrian Ambassador Gregor Kossler, Singaporean Ambassador Lawrence Anderson, Australian Ambassador Ralph King and Canadian Ambassador Dennis Horak.
