Civil Defense firefighters contained a major fire that gutted three diesel tanks northeast of Jeddah on Tuesday, stopping the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings.
Col. Saeed Sarhan, spokesman of the department in the Makkah region, said the firefighters moved to the area soon after receiving information about the fire. “Five firefighting teams, a rescue team and an ambulance were immediately mobilized,” the spokesman said. A snorkel truck was also sent to the site.
He said that Civil Defense teams used foam to fight the fire from three sides.
Sarhan said nobody was injured in the accident. “We have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze,” Sarhan said.
