The Riyadh Marriott Hotel is currently conducting a three-day blood-donation campaign as part of efforts to become involved in community activities in the Saudi capital. The campaign began Tuesday and ended Thursday.
“We have collected 100 units so far. We are aiming to collect 300 to 400 units during the three-day drive by involving our associates and hotel guests,” said Muin Serhan, the hotel’s GM, on Wednesday.
The blood units will be donated to the King Fahd Medical City Hospital, a government health facility. Hospital staff assisted their hotel counterparts during the blood donation campaign.
“The blood donation drive is only one such community project. We have received a letter of appreciation from the government,” said Serhan.
The hotel has invited the Insan, a non-profit orphan charity organization in Riyadh, to bring orphans aged 6 to 13 under its care to the hotel. “The plan is for them to experience how it is to stay and live in a five-star facility. We also show them the nature of work at the hotel.”
Moreover, the hotel has also heeded the call to provide Saudis with disabilities the chance to work at the hotel in coordination with the Red Crescent Society.
“We have two disabled employees now and they are doing well,” Serhan said.
