DUBAI: Three men who fed a live cat to their dogs have been ordered by Dubai’s ruler to clean the emirate’s zoo every day for three months.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the ruler of Dubai, made the order after a disturbing video was widely circulated online, showing a cat being attacked and killed by two dogs.
The video shows a white cat being pulled out of its cage by what appeared to be a Rottweiler, encouraged by one of the men behind the video.
After a vicious struggle, the cat goes limp and a man says the dogs “shut him up,” local media reported.
Dubai Police made arrests after the shocking video went viral, causing distress to many who saw it.
The punishment ordered by Sheikh Mohammed involves cleaning the Dubai Zoo for four hours a day for the next three months.

“@HHShkMohd orders men involved in cat cruelty incident to clean #Dubai Zoo facilities for 4 hours daily for 3 months as community service,” the media office said.
It is not the first time the Dubai ruler has ordered an unusual, but fitting punishment to offenders.
In February, Sheikh Mohammed ordered a group of men arrested for taking part in dangerous car stunts in Dubai to clean the streets for a month.
He issued the order after a video emerged of a motorist driving in circles at high speed in wet weather. The driver and his passengers were been ordered to clean the streets for four hours a day for a month, the Dubai Media Office said at the time.
