DUBAI: “American Idol” returned to US TV on Sunday night and some 10.3 million American viewers tuned in to the two-hour premiere of the show’s 16th season, according to ratings data released on Monday. “Idol” returns from its two-year break on a new network with the same host — renowned face-and-teeth carrier Ryan Seacrest — but a new judging panel: Eighties pop legend Lionel Richie, country singer-songwriter Luke Bryan, and bona-fide superstar Katy Perry.
