Dawn: PM Abbasi in Saudi Arabia to inspect joint exercise of Islamic military alliance

April 16: Dawn states that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi reached Saudi Arabia on Sunday a two-day visit to join other world leaders to witness the closing ceremony of the 24-country joint military exercise. The month-long exercise Gulf Shield-1 aimed at strengthening military and security cooperation and coordination among the regional countries concludes on Monday.

The News: 1.75 million Tourists visited Pakistan in 2017

April 25: The News states that significantly improved security situation has helped boost annual tourist arrivals in Pakistan by 300% since past few years with 1.75 million in 2017. There has been a significant increase in the annual tourism rate and business traveling in Pakistan. Domestic travelers have increased 30%, according to Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) while Jovago, the top hotel booking and e-commerce site in Pakistan, claimed hotel bookings increased by 80-90% percent in 2017. According to Jovago, over the past few years, Pakistan has seen a rapid increase in its tourism industry.
