Crew member injured during blast filming for new James Bond movie

  • ‘Bond 25’ will be the fifth time Craig portrays the suave 007 agent

LONDON: A crew member working on the new James Bond movie was injured during the filming of a controlled explosion at Pinewood Studios outside London, producers have said.
A statement issued on Tuesday said the exterior of a stage had also been damaged in the blast.
“During the filming of a controlled explosion on the set of Bond 25 today at Pinewood Studios, damage was caused to the exterior of the 007 Stage,” the statement said, referring to the yet unnamed movie’s working title.
“There were no injuries on set, however one crew member outside the stage has sustained a minor injury.”
Last month producers said actor Daniel Craig, who plays the famous British fictional secret agent, had sustained a minor ankle injury during filming in Jamaica and would undergo surgery.
They added production would continue during Craig’s post-surgery rehabilitation and that the latest instalment in the spy franchise remained on schedule for a cinema release in April 2020.
“Bond 25” will be the fifth time Craig portrays the suave 007 agent. Oscar winner Rami Malek will play the international villain in the movie, directed by American Cary Joji Fukunaga.

Ali called Marvel about ‘Blade’ after ‘Green Book’ win

  • After winning his second Academy Award for “Green Book” earlier this year, Ali set up a meeting with the superhero studio
  • Within 10 minutes, Ali asked what was happening with “Blade” and said he wanted to play him

SAN DIEGO: Mahershala Ali made the first move with Marvel Studios and “Blade.” Comic-Con audiences learned on Saturday night that Ali would be playing the Marvel Comics character in a reboot.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige says right after winning his second Academy Award for “Green Book” earlier this year, Ali set up a meeting with the superhero studio.
Within 10 minutes, Ali asked what was happening with “Blade” and said he wanted to play him.
Wesley Snipes played the half-vampire in three films for New Line Cinema and in a recent cameo in “What We Do in the Shadows.”
Although there were rumors that Snipes would return over the years, nothing had officially progressed with the property on the big screen since the rights reverted to Marvel Studios in 2012.
