RIYADH, 23 September — The Passports Department will impose fines up to SR2,000 on Saudi employers if they delay the proceedings for the issuance of their workers’ iqamas, Al-Watan Arabic daily reported yesterday quoting Brig. Saleh Al-Khodair, director of passports in the Riyadh region. It has started imposing a fine of SR500 on employers if the renewal application was presented three days after the iqama’s expiry date. He said the fine was imposed to counter the negligence showed by certain companies and individuals in renewing the iqamas of their workers.
