Deals worth SR29b cleared

RIYADH, 25 October — The Finance and National Economy Ministry has cleared more than 2,000 operation and maintenance contracts worth SR29 billion for government departments during the past nine months. In a statement issued yesterday, the ministry said they included 861 operation, maintenance and cleaning contracts valued at more than SR7.4 billion, 469 municipal, water and sewage contracts worth SR6.4 billion, 235 school building and educational contracts worth SR1.69 billion. The ministry completed 34 hospital and health center contracts worth SR834 million, 90 road contracts worth SR4.46 billion and 143 contracts for medicine, food and fuel worth SR1.27 billion. It said the contracts were awarded to national companies as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the economy. The ministry also disclosed that it had transferred $15.4 million to the account of Palestinian Authority this year to support its budget.
