Man Asked to Pay SR57,000 Electric Bill

JEDDAH, 15 April 2004 — A man almost went into shock when he received his monthly electric bill and saw that the amount was SR57,000. Abdullah Al-Zahrani said that he lived in a small house with five rooms and there was no way that the bill could be correct. He called the company and asked for clarification. Instead, the company took his meter and so left the house in darkness without any electricity at all. The man has said he will take the electricity company to court.
