Two Mushairas Are Planned in Jeddah

JEDDAH, 11 May 2005 — Urdu poetry lovers have a virtual feast in the offing for them with two grand mushairas (poetry recitation sessions) planned in the second fortnight of May.

‘Tamsily Mushaira’ on May 19

Indian Cultural Society is presenting “Tamsily Mushaira” titled “Aaj Aur Kal” at Al-Salam Holiday Inn Hotel at 8.30 p.m. on May 19. Azam Shafeeq, who has written and directed the program, has been invited for the presentation, which will be presided over by Consul General Dr. Ausaf Sayeed.

Indo-Pak Mushaira on May 26

Khak-e-Taiba Trust is organizing an Indo-Pak Mushaira (poetry session) at Le Jeddah Meridien here at 8 p.m. on May 26. Renowned poets from the subcontinent who were expected to present their compositions include Qaisarul Jafri, Munawwar Rana, Dr. Peerzada Qasim, Professor Anwar Masood, Johar Kanpuri, Majid Deobandi, Shabeena Adeeb, Mukhtar Yusufi, Sikander Hayat Gadbad and Najma Khan. At a meeting held Thursday at KTT center Fezaur Rehman was named chairman of the reception committee and Afsar Faheem was named convener.
