DUBAI, 18 March 2008 — The opening of the second Art Dubai, the region’s largest international modern art fair has proven to be a hit. Attendance at the fair has been high this year and thousands of visitors are expected to flock to Dubai during the week of March 18-22.
The Middle East’s first and largest contemporary art event, Art Dubai, will show contemporary artworks by nearly 70 of the world’s leading contemporary and modern galleries.
The Global Art Forum 2, which opened at Art Dubai yesterday with an Art & Patronage in the Business Age theme, brought together 50 of the global art community’s most respected curators, collectors and artists to debate and advance the discussion on the confluence of art and commerce. The Global Art Forum 2 moves to Madinat Jumeirah tomorrow and is open to the public.
An increased number of special art projects and exhibitions created specially for Art Dubai, will also be on display including new large-scale pieces from leading international artists such as Wim Delvoye, Tarek Zaki, Amir H. Fallah, Sunil Gawde and Marwan Rechmaoui as well as a special exhibition of contemporary art from Pakistan curated by Salima Hashmi and entitled “Desperately Seeking Paradise.”
