JEDDAH: Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli and Al-Hazem scored crucial wins in round six of the Saudi Professional League on Friday. Four matches were held in this round.
In Alkhobar, Ahli got the better of hosts Al-Qadesiya 2-1 to secure three points. The win was very important for Ahli, as they` had lost their previous two matches to Al Shabab and Hilal.
With this win, Ahli has strengthened its position in the league standings climbing up to the fourth spot with nine points and is back in the competition.
In Ahsa, Al-Fateh hosted Hilal but were routed 5-1 in a one sided encounter. Hilal maintained its position at the top of the league table with 16 points.
Al-Ittihad is in third position but has two matches in hand as they it is taking part in the AFC Champions League.
Ittifaq continued to disappoint this year and was crushed by Ittifaq 3-1.
In Najran, Al Nasr and Najran shared two goals and points. Nasr had a golden opportunity to seal three points and the match but Saad Al-Harthi failed to score from the spot.
On Thursday, Shabab scored a 2-0 win over Al-Raid. Shabab is in the second spot with 13 points.
Ittihad’s match against Wehda has been postponed due to Ittihad’s participation in AFC Champions League.
