LOS ANGELES: The NBA threw a Texas-sized party, and Dallas native Chris Bosh gave the Eastern Conference reason to celebrate.

Bosh hit the game-winning free throws with five seconds left on Sunday night, and the East held off a late charge to edge the West 141-139 in the 59th NBA All-Star Game in Dallas.
"It is a really, really good feeling to be an All-Star year in and year out. But, to be an All-Star when the game is played in your hometown is something special," said Bosh, who stars for the Toronto Raptors.
"This big, great, grand arena and to be able to have the biggest crowd ever (in a basketball game)."
The league's biggest game was only trumped by the venue it was played in. A record-setting crowd of 108, 713, the most to ever witness a live basketball game gathered under the retractable roof at Cowboys Stadium, outside of Dallas, to watch the league's best clash in the mid-season spectacle.
The previous record was 78,129, set for a college contest between Kentucky and Michigan State at Detroit's Ford Field on Dec. 13, 2003.
"Awesome is an overused word, but this is awesome," league commissioner David Stern said. "I didn't quite quite know what to expect, but whatever it was, it wasn't as big as it turned out to be."
"I think they were expecting 90,000, something like that," Bosh said. "To have 108,000, that's just leaps and bounds more than what we expected. I had a blast."
The West trailed by as many as 16 in the third quarter but squared the contest at 139-apiece on a pair of free throws by German juggernaut Dirk Nowitzki with 7.7 seconds remaining.
Bosh got the ball following a timeout and drove the left side, where he was tripped up by Chauncey Billups. He calmly made both tosses from the stripe to snap the tie.
The West had a final shot to pull of the come-from-behind victory, but Carmelo Anthony's straightaway three-pointer grazed the front of the rim at the final buzzer.
Dwyane Wade (Miami) had 28 points, 11 assists and five steals for the East, who improved to 36-23 in the all-time series. LeBron James (Cleveland) scored 25 while Bosh (Toronto) finished with 23 and 10 boards.
For his sparkling all-around effort, Wade was voted the game's MVP.
"I'm glad I could be the first MVP of this historical event, wade said. "It's amazing to see where the game is and to be a witness of the largest crowd to ever watch this game and to ever play in it.
"I'm sure we're going to be telling our kids for years to come."
Anthony (Denver) topped the West with 27 points with 10 rebounds, Nowitzki (Dallas) scored 20, and Billups (Denver) added 14 of his 17 in the final frame, but it wasn't enough.
"They made just one more play than we did," Nowitzki said. "We had a shot at the end. Carmelo had a decent look, but they deserve to win."
