AFOC’s Open Sports Festival- Under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy prime minister and minister of presidential affairs, the Armed Forces Officers Club (AFOC) organizes the 15th Ramadan Open Sports Festival on Aug. 2, 2011 at its premises in Abu Dhabi.
The championship, which was first staged in 1997, attracts national sports teams, clubs and individuals from all over the world who compete in various sporting disciplines for both men and women including football, boxing, karate, shooting, bowling, chess, jiu-jitsu, judo, wrestling, fencing, and ice hockey as well as play station. Being one of the most prominent Ramadan sporting events in Abu Dhabi, the festival offers a large number of valuable prizes, making it the richest Ramadan championship in the Middle East, and allows free public entrance to watch the competitions.
Ramadan Football Championship of Al Ain Police Officers Club: Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, Al Ain Police Officers Club stages the 16th Ramadan Football Championship from Aug. 4 to 18, 2011. Besides football, the championship also includes six other sporting events with camel racing, shooting, special needs games, play station, chess and snooker. In order to attract a larger crowd to watch the tournaments, football matches among various neighborhoods of Al Ain will be held for the first time in the history of the championship.
