Unify the bleeding world

By MASOOD KHAN | JUBAIL

Imam Y. Hendi, a professor at Georgetown University Washington, D.C. while speaking in Karachi last week, made some interesting proposals, that religion which is the source of conflict in many parts of the world must now also be made the source for a solution.

He was of the view that elements in all religions have utilized banners of their respective beliefs to stoke violence which has polarized the world, and the only way out of this is to educate the scholars of these religions about the noble and universal values advocated by other religions.

Unless we take this message seriously and treat all religions with respect, disregard and isolate those who use religion to instigate violence and hatred to prove superiority of any specific religion, the world will not be a safe and stable place. It puts the onus on religious scholars to take up the task to unify the bleeding world.

I applaud professor's courage to make such a bold statement. Let the charity begin at home by ending the religious rivalry among different faiths in Islam, starting with Sunni and Shiah and extending the idea to unify the bleeding world.

I also applaud the suggestion of Imam Y. Hendi, Professor at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. As one who has long followed Inter-Faith and Intra-Faith dialogue, as well as national and ethnic diversities, I do believe that Islam can make strides towards Intra-Faith dialogue, including Sunni and Sunni differences. Part of the differences between Sunni and Shiah Muslims are rooted in the ancient ethnic rivalries between the Arab and Persian peoples. One place where closer ties between Sunni and Shiah Muslims can be between the predominantly Shiah ethnic minority in Afghanistan and the predominantly Sunni people of Saudi Arabia. There has never been a conflict between the Hazara people and Saudi Arabians. The
vast majority of Hazaras look with fear at traditional Persian expansionism, and they would certainly, I am sure, appreciate creating new and more direct ties with Saudi Arabia, especially as it is niow under the reign of a truly remarkable Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

Unfortunately, Muslims will not be able to make this happen. The Islamists can only find unity when they are attacking other religions. When they are not attcking other religions they attack themselves as they are able to use the Quran as justification for thier despicable actions against mankind. Sad but true.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "ISLAMISTS" ISLAM IS A RELIGION AND THOSE WHO FOLLOW IT ARE MUSLIMS.
WHEN A MUSLIM SNEEZES IN ANY PART OF THE WORLD,AMERICANS
AND EUROPEANS GET "THE COLD"
ISLAM IS A PEACEFUL RELIGION. THERE IS NO COMPULSION.JEWS
WHEN BEING PERSECUTED SOUGHT REFUGE.IN ARAB COUNTRIES
MUSLIMS ALLOVER THE WORLD ARE BEING HARASSED HUMILIATED AND KILLED AND BEING SUBJUGATED. THIS IS THE NEW COLONIALISM AND MUSLIMS WILL NOT ACCEPT IT AND WILL FIGHT TO UPHOLD THEIR RELIGION RIGHTS AND VALUES. AND MUSLIMS HAVE THE RIGHT LIKE ANYONE ONE ELSE TO RESIST AND FIGHT.
THE FUTURE IS FOR ISLAM AND WE DO NOT HAVE TO FIGHT FOR IT!!!!!

No Islamists? Golly, that is a term I see rather often. BTW the peaceful religion slogan is getting very weak. Christians condemned to hang in Pakistan for blasphemy. A teenager in OR decided the best thing he can do with his time is plant bombs in Portland. Christian convert in Afghanistan condemned to death? who is killing who? Sorry, it falls flat.
