Pakistan’s navy frigate “PNS Shamsheer” will visit the Islamic port of Jeddah on a goodwill training exercise from Nov. 24-28, 2012.
The general-purpose frigate was built by China and Pakistan in Shanghai and handed over to the Pakistan Navy in January 2010. The ship’s name is derived from the traditional Islamic sword “shamsheer” and is considered to be a symbol of velour and martyrdom in Islamic history.
Tours of the frigate will be extended to members of the Pakistani community on Nov. 27, 2012. Contact the Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh at 01-4884111, ext. 2205, for more information.
