JEDDAH: Eid is likely to take place on Friday, Sept. 10, according to the Department of Astronomy at Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz University.
This means Muslims in Saudi Arabia will enjoy 30 days of Ramadan fasting. (In some years it is 29 days.) Hassan Basarrah, head of the department, said the moon would begin to wax on Wednesday 10 minutes before the sunset in all parts of the Kingdom.
At that moment the moon will be three degrees below the horizon at maghreb in Makkah, Al-Eqtisadiah reported on Friday.
