SAMA announces holidays for banks

By ARAB NEWS

JEDDAH: The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) said the bank holidays for Eid would begin on Tuesday Sept. 7.

Banks will open again on Sept. 14. However SAMA stressed the need for some branches of banks to be open at locations of high population density and in airports and border entry points at least for some time every day through the Eid holidays, Al-Madinah newspaper reported on Sunday.

The bank holiday means ATM machines will not be replenished until after the break. Banks tend to be very crowded in the week following the break. Banks will also be closed on Sept. 23 for Saudi National Day.
