Eid programs available online

By ARAB NEWS

RIYADH: The Municipality of Riyadh has launched a website to keep the public informed about the programs and locations of Eid festivities that will be held in 40 locations across the city, Al-Eqtisadiah reported on Monday.

The site will publish news reports of all activities and programs including pictorial guides and road maps so that people can go to festival locations. Text messages on the festivities will also be sent out. The site will also feature lists of the major events presented in different locations and preparations for the festivals. It will also carry Eid greetings. The site, supplying daily updates, will also compile a file on the media coverage of the Riyadh festivals.

The site will also present documentaries on the major activities and provide facilities for visitors to comment and make suggestions.

The King Fahd Cultural Center will also arrange several Eid activities for women and children in collaboration with the municipality.

The programs include a comedy titled Banat Fatimah (Daughters of Fatimah) with a cast of Maysa Maghrebi, Abir Ahmad, Aghadir El-Saeed and music by the Kuwaiti Misk orchestra.

The comedy play, written by Abdul Rahman Al-Omar, is woven around a number of sisters and their ambitions and worries.

The activities at the cultural center will also include the fourth women’s festival called “Riyadh Eid Eidain,” with a number of Arab folk dances and other women’s programs. It will also display diverse dress styles from the Kingdom and Gulf countries. The Kuwaiti Misk troupe will present a number of musical programs.

The children’s programs include a drama written by Ali Abdullah “Al-Muallimah Afkar” which aims at creating an interest in children to learn mathematics and science. The heroine of the play is Aghadir Al-Saeed supported by Kuwaiti actress Shauq. There will also be cartoon film shows and contests for children. The events will start on the day of Eid at 5 p.m. and last until midnight.
