Roaming Yemeni beggar nabbed

By MUHAMMAD AL-SULAMI | ARAB NEWS

YANBU: Police announced on Tuesday the arrest of an itinerant Yemeni beggar, identified only by the name Bilal.

The man is believed to have moved around Asir province as a professional beggar before moving to Jeddah, Madinah and then Yanbu, seeking charity from people during Ramadan.

Police said Bilal was deported after coming to the Kingdom during Ramadan 2009, but re-entered the Kingdom illegally during this holy month to take advantage of the Ramadan tradition of generosity and charity.

The man was arrested begging in front of a mosque in Yanbu in possession of SR1,800, which they claim was begging proceeds made solely from the day of his arrest.
