JEDDAH: The Welfare Store charity has given 586 orphans in Jeddah money for new Eid clothing, announced the director general of the organization Faisal ibn Abdul Rahman Al-Humaid.
Each orphan was given a magnetized plastic card to use to withdraw money from Al-Rajhi’s ATMs. He explained that the amount of money for the monthly sponsorship and the Eid dress is printed clearly on the card. “They can then visit a number of shops, which have agreed to give special prices, to buy their clothes,” he added.
Al-Humaid said the use of plastic cards will save the dignity of the orphans, helps them overcome their predicament and save them the humiliation of begging.
The director said 4,364 families in Jeddah were able to purchase their requirements of foodstuffs through a number of malls using the magnetized card for purchases. He said a total of 6,000 poor families are registered in the database of the society and are receiving assistance.
