Summer program attracts 500 boys and girls

RIYADH: Over 500 boys and girls are taking part in a summer program of firefighting, first aid, plumbing and other skills for boys, and decorating, etiquette and firefighting for girls.
The boys participating are in the age group of 12-18 years and the girls are 8 years to 16 years old.
The program, launched by Al-Baik in cooperation with the Vocational Training Institute in Jeddah, the Technical College in Makkah, Al Faysaliah Charity Organization for Women in Jeddah and the support of the Saudi Red Crescent and Civil Defense, is entering its ninth year. The program has trained about 4,000 Saudi youths over the period.
Program supervisors said that the SR500 registration fee is refunded to students who score 90 percent or more at the end of the program, SR375 of the registration fee is refunded to students who score between 80 and 89 percent and SR250 of the registration fee is refunded to students who score between 70 and 79 percent.
