THE 99 Village is Middle East’s first theme park and is located in Kuwait. It is based on THE 99, the world acclaimed Islamic-themed comic series, which is an intellectual property of Teshkeel Media Group.
Launched in March 2009, THE 99 Village theme park occupies a unique position in the region’s entertainment offerings as it has an exceptional Islam-inspired back story. Featuring characters from around the world and intellectual property created in the MENA region, THE 99 Village theme park holds a special attraction for consumers in the GCC and Islamic World.
Visitors to THE 99 Village theme park will be able to further complement their intimate experience with THE 99 superheroes through THE 99 animated series which is scheduled for worldwide release by 2011.The new 26-episode animated series is drawn from THE 99 superhero comic books and has been co-produced with Television giant Endemol (Big Brother, Star Academy, Deal Or No Deal, etc). Broadcasting rights of the series has already been sold to several channels.
THE 99 Village theme park is located in Slayil Al-Jahra in Jahra Governorate, Kuwait and offers more than 20 rides. The park is open from 5 p.m. to midnight. The rides are mainly for children in the age group of 4-15 years old. Most of the rides are based on THE 99 comics and have names such as Jabbar’s Chariot Riders (Roman Chariot), Jumping Gems Trampoline (Jumping Trampoline), Noora’s Pony Stable (Pony Station), THE 99 Rolling Gems (Mini-Bumper Cars), Blackwolf’s Crashin’ Villians (Bumper Cars), Jabbar’s Rollin’ Adventure ( Roller Coaster), Baqi’s Everlasting Adventure (Buggy Rides), THE 99 Express (Track Train), THE 99 Tower of Power (Jumping Tower), Journey of the Noor Stones (Viking Ship), Rughal’s Free Fall (Dry Slides) and Jami’s Hi-Tech Racers (Motor Scooters).
The location of the park is near Kuwait’s border with Saudi Arabia, which sees a lot of Saudi nationals visiting the park during weekends and holidays. The entry ticket to THE 99 Village theme park costs KD 0.500 with separate tickets for each ride. A family can buy a group ticket which allows them to use a major part of the rides. The park opens in the evening only, so that visitors are able to beat the unbearable heat in the summer months.
Beyond the physical park concept, THE 99 Village theme park uses the “Walkarounds” concept to establish an intimate connection between visitors to the park and the park, itself, the purpose of which is to provide a more “returnable” experience for the visitors. THE 99 Village has Walkaround Characters from THE 99 comic series providing an educational experience for visiting children. The Walkaround experience of THE 99 characters has been providing the children with an ever-changing and increasing ‘sticky’ environment to encourage repeat park visitors.
Please visit THE 99 Village in Kuwait today and enjoy the various promotions held throughout the year. During May 2010, THE 99 Village held a Summer Fest, which was a one month campaign to attract visitors. It was a successful campaign with the visitors being offered grand prizes through a draw.
