KOTTAKKAL, Kerala: The ulema conference organized by the Samastha Kerala Jam’iyathul Ulema, a body of Islamic scholars, has warned against the possibility of the uprisings in Muslim nations into the hands of Zionists.
“The Zionists and colonialists are doing everything at creating cracks in the unity of Ummah on the ethnic and nationalist lines. The Muslims should be cautious about this trap,” a resolution adopted by the three-day conference attended by more than 10,000 scholars said.
The conference adopted the statement by Riyadh Prince Salman that the Kingdom respects all the four schools of thoughts in Islam and there was no discrimination among them. It will help strengthen the unity of Muslims worldwide.
It urged the Arab and Muslim leadership to be cautious about the trap of such a tragedy in the countries where democratic movements are active. It also called upon the Muslims to protect the Islamic monuments all over the world.
The conference hailed the contributions of Egypt’s Al-Azhar University in spreading the Islamic knowledge throughout the world and urged the Egyptian authorities to continue its support to the centre of Islamic learning.
It urged ulema to take maximum care while issuing fatwas and consult others if needed before jumping into conclusions. The Samastha has formed a Fiqh Council to guide them.
The resolution supported the decision of Sheikh Al-Azhar to form a global forum of Sunni scholars and urged the forum to be formed to give equal consideration to all the original schools of thought.
The ulemas asked the Kerala government to implement the Shariah-compliant banking system that it announced earlier in right earnest and offered to extend all help to make it a success.
The conference with the slogan “Islam for completeness,” was attended by top scholars including Dubai Islamic Affairs Grand Mufti Ahmed Abdul Azeez Haddad. Different sessions were titled ‘Thouheed, Da’wah, Fiq’h,’ ‘Islam, politics and society,’ ‘world Muslims and Islamic movements,’ and ‘Islam and economics.’”
