Prince Jalawi bin Abdul Aziz bin Musaed, deputy governor of the Eastern Province, opened the 29th annual career day organized by King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Dhahran yesterday. About 120 government and private companies and agencies participated in the event.
Prince Jalawi also opened an exhibition held on the sidelines of the career day. He toured the pavilions and was impressed by the exhibits displayed at the fair. Speaking to reporters, Prince Jalawi commended the pioneering role played by the university in the Kingdom’s higher education sector.
Addressing the ceremony, Misfar Al-Zahrani, dean of students’ affairs at the university, said the career day aims to provide training and creating employment opportunities for university students and graduates.
“It acquaints the graduates with the new trends regarding the existing demand for jobs and future expectations in various specialties. The day also presents a general picture about the scientific and academic capabilities of graduates to various companies and businesses in both the public and private sectors,” he said.
Several companies and organizations from the GCC states were also invited to attend this year’s event, which coincides with the university’s 50th anniversary.
