KINGSTON, Jamaica: Usain Bolt won his first 100 meters of the year at the Jamaica International Invitational.
The Jamaican crowd cheered wildly as Bolt won in 9.82 seconds, giving him a standing ovation. His victory lap was met with a deafening roar.
Even before the Saturday night race, a confident Bolt got the hometown crowd going with a quick “To Di World” pose, in which he points to the sky as if he’s about to shoot an arrow into the sky.
Jamaican Michael Frater came in second with 10.00 seconds.
The invitational meet, now in its ninth year, is being held less than a month before the start of the sprinting powerhouse’s Olympic trials.
American sprinter Carmelita Jeter raced a world leading time of 10.81 in the women’s 100.
