As part of the government’s strategies to enhance the role of the private sector in the country’s development plan, Saleh Kamel, chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), has announced the formation of a coordination council for the five chambers operating in the Western Region.
The council will undertake and coordinate various activities of the chambers in Makkah, Madinah, Taif and Yanbu, aside from Jeddah.
The council will aim to streamline Haj and Umrah activities in the five commercial cities of the region with an eye on increasing pilgrim numbers, according to a JCCI official.
The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by Kamel and attended by Makkah chamber Chairman Talal Mirza, Madinah chamber Chairman Muhammad Al-Khadrawi, Taif chamber Chairman Naif Adwani and Yanbu chamber Chairman Ibrahim badawi.
The council, which will show special concern for improving cooperation among the chambers for their technological and research developments, will also consider promoting investments in Madinah.
