The North Indian Fraternity Forum (NIFF) Jeddah organized a literary evening last weekend with noted Indian poet Kaleem Ajiz.
The function started with a recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Master Salman Mahfooz Aini followed by the launch of the NIFF Newsletter called “We – The People” by the visiting poet. The newsletter will provide an opportunity to amateur writers to showcase their writing skills and will work as a unique means of communication among the members of NIFF.
Dr. Kaleem Ajiz is a recipient of India’s coveted Padmashree award for his contributions to Urdu literature in 1989.
He has served the department of Urdu at Patna University for decades. He is known for the ease in which he expresses his thoughts through verses. The Urdu lovers were mesmerized by the legendry verses and visionary thoughts of 92-year-old Ajiz.
Local poets, Naeem Bazedpuri, Nasir Berney, Saeed Akhtar and others added flavor to the evening. The efforts of NIFF patrons Zia Nadwi and Azizur Rab, President Fuzail Ahmed, Vice Presidents Feroz Khan, Waquar Ahmad & Prakash Rana, Treasurer Iqbal Siddiqui, Event Coordinator Syed Ghazanfar Mumtaz and General Secretary Khwaja Nasir Jamal were appreciated by all for the literary evening organized.
