The Jubail chapter of Students India, a cultural organization of Indian students in the Gulf, recently organized a mesmerizing Open Day edutainment program that inspired boys and girls to excel in education and extracurricular activities.
The event began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Faisal Abdul Salam that reminded the participants that faith and belief in God is the pillar on which they should base their journey to strive, struggle and succeed.
He began by sharing a movie clip that spread the message of learning and support.
Students India Coordinator Sulfi Ali of SATORP gave a presentation on the organization’s objectives. Saleem Mohammed coordinated the energizer session by introducing exercises that were followed with enthusiasm.
Rayyan Moosa Hamza gave another presentation on “Steps to Excellence” and explained how people can follow small steps through the PAD methodology. There was a team building game called “Traffic Jam”, a game designed in such a way that would teach persistence, patience, leadership and teamwork.
Students were then grouped into entrepreneurs, general managers, team leaders, engineers, designers, work supervisors and laborers to build a student India Bridge using colorful ice cream sticks and glue. Veteran engineers were surprised to observe the potential each student displayed in their work.
Once built, the bridges were put to the test during an evaluation session.
There was also a mini football tournament for boys and throw ball tournament for girls. During the election, Ameen Akbar (Captain, Boys), Faisal Abdul Salam (Vice Captain, Boys), Shahnaz Shajahan (Captain, Girls) and Miss Sitara (Vice Captain, Girls) were declared the leaders for the year 2012.
Nihmathullah (veteran referee accredited by FIFA) and Nishad (sports physiotherapist) supervised and coordinated the sports events. The football finals ended in a tie that moved on to a round of penalty shootouts. The teams, led by Asher and Hana Anas, emerged victorious and were awarded with individual medals and a rolling trophy.
