The Jeddah-based Khak-e-Taiba Trust (KTT) recently held its annual elocution contest involving 20 international schools. The themes of the bilingual contest in English and Urdu were Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a role model for mankind; honesty is the best policy; and service to mankind is service to God.
The contestants left the audience spellbound with their oratorical skills. The Top 3 winners in English language competition were Affan Muhammad Nawaz from Al-Wurood International School, Wajiha Abid Ali from Al-Biladi International School and Sunita from Novel International School.
The Top 3 winners in Urdu language competition were Dua Fatima from Al-Biladi International School, Bushra Yaqub from Duahat-ul-Uloom International School and Sufiyan Abada from Al-Biladi International School.
Indian Consul General Faiz Ahmad Kidwai was the chief guest at the event. Consul for Education, Culture and Commerce Shakeel Ahmed, Bazm-e-Ittehad President Ahmeduddin Owaisi, Yanbu Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Dr. Faiz Zain Al-Abideen and Saudi-Indian Business Network (SIBN) Vice President Dr. Asar Khan were present.
Lauding KTT’s initiative of promoting education among the deprived section of Indian society, the consul general said collective effort on the part of social organizations could benefit the community at large.
KTT President Aijaz Ahmed Khan said the zeal and enthusiasm among the talented youth was a healthy sign. “They were eager to show off their debating skills despite their preoccupation with the annual examination,” he said.
KTT General Secretary Syed Khaja Viqaruddin underscored the importance of debating contests and said no matter how brilliant one might be in studies, “without proper communication skills your knowledge alone will not help in building the path of success in your future career.
