RIYADH: Police arrested four African expatriates who attempted to rob people coming out of banks and ATM booths, Riyadh police said Friday.
The four were arrested at different locations in the city as they attempted to waylay residents who came out of banks following cash withdrawals.
The suspects also stole cash and valuables from parked cars.
The arrests were made following a series of complaints made by the victims of the alleged thefts. There were instances where the robbers had broken car windows to get at cash kept inside.
The suspects have confessed to their crimes. Authorities are conducting further investigation to find out if more people were involved in the crime. The suspects will be handed over to courts on the completion of police investigation.
Police have asked people to take extra precaution while leaving banks and ATMs.
