Security officers in Jeddah’s criminal investigation division yesterday arrested a five-member gang of Arabs who have been involved in a number of thefts and armed robbery in South Jeddah.
Security agents created a trap to arrest one of the gang member, who assisted police in capturing the rest of the gang. Security officers waited around the flat where the four resided until they returned to it.
“The four criminals returned to their residence very late and they were surprised to see security officers waiting for them,” a security source told Arab News.
Police seized the materials used by the gang to break into houses and open locks.
In a related development, the customs department in Hudaitha foiled an attempt to smuggle two million Captagon narcotic pills into the Kingdom. Zayed bin Atallah Al-Zayed, director of the department, said the drug was hidden in long pipes in a truck. “This shows that people use different methods to smuggle drugs into the Kingdom,” he said.
