Jawad Hadi Abbas, Iraq's ambassador to Jordan, told Al-Madinah newspaper that 70 Saudi prisoners are being held in Iraq for crimes of a terrorist or criminal nature.
He said the bodies of executed Saudi prisoners would be flown to the Kingdom and released to their families for burial. He did not disclose how many had been executed. “Entry visas to Iraq will be issued to family members who want to travel there and accompany them home,” he said.
The ambassador said he is in touch with the authorities in Iraq to arrange for transportation of the bodies. “I will be discussing this matter with the Iraqi minister of justice during his visit to Jordan in the next few days. The judicial system in Iraq does not target certain nationalities and relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia are excellent,” he said.
