The 27-day 12th Aramco Summer Cultural Program kicked off opening day Thursday at the Saudi Aramco Recreational Center with nearly 7,000 visitors at Saudi Aramco Recreational Center Jeddah on Thursday.
The Aramco Summer Cultural Program, with more than 80 activities and competitions, is part of the summer festival, which is organized to spread awareness and education on safety and security, entertainment and cultural social programs to encourage volunteerism in youth.
Nabil Ahmed Ba’eshen, manager of Saudi Aramco Affairs Western region, said this summer cultural program is a part of the company’s social responsibility.
“We are aiming to achieve awareness and entertainment for the whole family, at the same time we are promoting the volunteerism culture in the country,” said Ba’eshen.
Five major tents for science, kids island, heritage, theater and awareness cover 100,000 sq.meters.
Abdul Aziz G. Raheem, content development manager, said, “Today we just have a soft opening but the entertainment programs with the kids' theater and others will start on Saturday. From time time we will have dignitaries and special guests from the government sector visiting this Aramco summer fest.”
He said the awareness tent has five galleries shedding light on environmental safety, wildlife, homes and daily food, cleaning and safety methods and health gallery. Programs include dental hygiene, nutrition consultation clinics, dengue fever awareness, general health corner, blood donation and fitness time corner. There is also a drug awareness gallery.
The Aramco Company Operation gallery has illustrations of company operations, environmental protection practices and experience on environmental protection.
“We also are focusing on creating awareness on preventing road accidents and fire safety precautions, as it will help the public during emergency situations, traffic safety gallery. This include the Sahar vehicle program and statistics before and after Sahar, safety on land and sea by Frontier Guard, police department operations and an illustration about the new 999 system and others,” he said.
In addition to galleries, the hourly show in the Scientific Theater also demonstrates more than 25 scientific experiments in a safe environment.
Moreover, the science tent takes visitors to the Jurassic age, where children find themselves in front of giant dinosaurs.
The heritage tent features displays on local architecture including a museum of Two Holy Mosques, museum on King Abdul Aziz, museum on King Fahd Academy for Quran publishing, photography workshop, arts workshop, calligraphy workshop, crafts gallery, historical photo gallery and a model of Old Jeddah.
