RIYADH: There were 726,191 security cases in the Kingdom last year, local daily Al-Hayat reported Monday quoting the yearly statistical report of the Interior Ministry.
The report said, the cases of violation of law and order amounted to 428,769, constituting about 59 percent of all criminal cases.
According to the report, the cases included those of murder, physical aggression, threats, sexual abuses, financial crimes, electronic piracy, theft, drugs and others.
Cases connected with the private rights reached 104,664 constituting about 14 percent of the entire criminal cases while there were 6,240 pertaining to faith, worship and Shariah issues. The report said there were 21,004 cases involving accidents and 6171 administrative cases.
According to the report, Riyadh, with 26,969 cases, topped all other cities and regions in the cases relating to public and private finance which included theft, armed robbery, conning and others. “Hail had 3,120 while the Northern Borders region had 1,028 pf these cases,” it added.
The report said the Eastern province had 10,033 cases involving murder, threats, suicides, missing people and repression. “Makkah with 90,684 topped all other regions in the number of cases of violation of law and order while Jazan, in the south, had 30,389 such cases,” it said.
According to the report, law and order violations consisted of illegal crossing of borders, violating the system of residence, escaping from authorities, distributing forbidden publications, impersonating others, false information and trespassing on the properties of the others.
Madinah, with 5,862, had the highest number of private cases. These cases were 4,167 in the southern region of Asir, 2,230 in Al-Jouf and 5,227 in Baha. These cases included labor and commercial cases as well as reconciliations.
The report said there were 6,332 cases of road accidents in Qasim in addition to other cases of loss of properties and documents.
