ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi opened its first public beach on Saadiyat with multiple facilities and activities designed to suit trendy beachgoers and sun-lounging guests.
BAKE, a beach-specialized operator, has been appointed by Tourism Development and Investment Company to manage the 400-meter beach stretch, which opens every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with lifeguards on duty throughout the day to ensure visitors’ safety.
Abu Dhabi has been receiving a large number of tourists from Saudi Arabia. According to figures by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, 36,430 tourists from Saudi Arabia had visited Abu Dhabi during the first of 2012.
Saadiyat Public Beach comprises a wide range of facilities including lounge chairs, showers and bathrooms, lockers, changing rooms, towels, umbrellas, and ample parking spaces.
A snack lounge, a retail outlet selling beachwear and sports equipment, and eco-friendly water sports activities such as windsurfing and sailing, will be introduced gradually in the third quarter of 2013.
Ahmed Al-Fahim, executive director of Marketing, communications, sales and Leasing at TDIC, stated: “We are excited to open Saadiyat Public Beach, which is designed to facilitate the needs of the island’s residents, as well as guests from the wider Abu Dhabi community” he added.
