Al-Bahjah Optical, Geely Cars and Sadia advanced to the championship round in the FTBJ-ICBL 29th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes in Mossadia Plaza here.
The three qualified via the three-game point system shootout on the 20th week for the remaining 10 teams that failed to make it outright as the top four finishers in the eliminations.
Bahjah totaled 33 points, Geely 32 and Sadia 29. They will knock each other out in a further three games in the first match of the stepladder final with the winner to face No. 4 Kulisap ni Mo in the second match.
The second match winner then goes on to challenge third finalist Nasser Al-Hajri. Hidada Contracting Ltd., the No. 2 team, is next up for the third match winner. The fifth stage in the stepladder features the matchup between No. 1 Safawa Tech-Build, which has a twice-to-beat edge, and the surviving challenger.
After a slow start, Bahjah held steady to win the third game and return the top overall output.
Rolly Vistal rolled the day’s high series of 681 on lines of 186, 192 and 243 at the vanguard of Bahjah’s onslaught.
Aileen Miralbuna was chief in support of Vistal on 564 with May Lourdes tossing in 559 and Roger Daquioag 558. Ed Cordova had two-game contribution of 190-182, while Oca Evangelista rounded out the scoring on 206.
For Geely Cars the trio of Archie Santos, Aisa Silabay and Nurissa Ramos led the way with rounds of 567, 555 and 540 to go with the 267-190 by Danny Bautista, 194-188 by Rally Zamora and 197-202 by Rudy Valenzuela.
Not even once a Team of the Week like Geely but now with a chance to go all the way for the major prizes, Sadia received a lift from the 636 and 623 by Marie Gumpal and Paolo Allego. Gerry Mandanas had 599 and Lourdes Punzalan 514 while Igna Salgado added 196-180 and Nick Gozun 168.
