The Board of Directors of Al-Madina Press, Printing and Publications Organization has unanimously chose Dr. Nasser bin Aqeel Al-Tayyar as its new chairman in place of Dr. Ghazi bin Obaid Madani, who resigned for personal reasons.
The board tried to talk Madani out of his decision but he insisted on the resignation expressing confidence in the new chairman to be elected by the board and wishing him and the establishment success and prosperity.
Subsequently, the board was unanimous in its choice of Al-Tayyar who was deputy chairman.
The Okaz Organization for Press and Publication Board of Directors too unanimously elected its member Abdullah Saleh Kamel as its chairman in place of Dr. Sa’ed Al-Harithy, who resigned last month.
Dr. Waleed Arab Hashim opened the session as he was authorized with this task upon the resignation of Dr. Al-Harithy.
Besides the new Chairman of the Board of Directors, the meeting was attended by Dr. Waleed Arab Hashim, Abdullah Khayat; Dr. Hashim Abdu Hashim, Editor-in-Chief of Okaz; Hussein Shobokshi; Dr. Waleed Kattan, Director General of Okaz Organization; Dr. Tariq Fad’aq; and Ahmad Al-Battah, Secretary of the Board. Dr. Humoud Al-Badr and Abdullateef Al-Jabr were absent from the meeting.
Al-Tayyar, who now chairs the Al-Madina Press board, has extensive experience in all fields relating to press and publication. He entered the profession with a job with Al-Riyadh newspaper and wrote in a number of Saudi and Arab newspapers. He also founded some Gulf and Arab media entities in addition to distinctive media partnership at the international level.
During the chairmanship of Madani, which extended from May 16, 2002 to May 23, 2012, the establishment witnessed quantitative leaps at the media, advertisement, administrative and financial levels.
At the editorial level, the newspaper made great jumps in circulation occupying the second place in the Western Province, according to a study conducted by ABSOS.
On printing, the printing complex was updated according to the highest levels while at the administrative level the basic infrastructure of the establishment was modernized using the up-to-date technology.
The establishment also achieved good financial results with the revenues increasing by 35 percent in 2011.
