Al Watan Décor dazzles in FTBJ-ICBL 30th tourney

Al Watan Décor ended Cristal Global’s three-week run as Team of the Week during the fifth session in the FTBJ-ICBL 30th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes in Mossadia Plaza here.
Al Watan pocketed 47 points in a remarkable display that was rewarded with a breakthrough Team of the Week award.
As well as losing out to Al Watan for team honors Cristal Global lost the lead to Al Zamil Metal, the first week honoree that returned 42 points to Cristal Global’s 36 in a tie with Sky Freight-TFC.
Saudi Diyar Consultants were alone in fifth place with 35 points followed by Jeddah Lanes 30, Hidada Ltd. 26.5 and D’ Barkads 24. Kulisap ni Moe tallied 22 points and Akiera Sato Bowlers 21.5, while Pin Slashers, Yanbu Snipers and Avengers filled the last three spots on 20, 16 and 8 points in that order.
The individual Bowler of the Week awardees were Zaldy Bacero of Cristal Global and Saudi Diyar’s Fatima Jintarat.
Bacero won his second plum in the young tournament by shoting the day’s high series of 690 on lines of 228, 232 and 230 while Jintarat rolled the best score of 601 on the distaff side.
Al Watan used a strong first two games to cushion a modest third game showing and then sealed the deal by finishing with the highest output of 2,939 pinfalls for first-place points of 13.
Lourdes Punzalan, Jeff San Pedro and Charrie Guzman bowled full games of 592, 584 and 522 at the forefront of Al Watan. The rest of the players in Jess Pineda, Darwin Tumandao and Efren San Pedro chipped in two games of 173-228, 185-186 and 206-189.
Bonnie Garcia put together a solid 659 (182, 276,195) to be the main man at Zamil which won the second game for 13 points.
Merlen Pamintuan came through with 579 and along with Randy Mata 557 and Ester Jalata 531 went the distance for the Metal specialists.
Emy de Guzman’s Sky Freight had Atoi Cruz posting the team’s top score of 618 that went with the 577 by Goying Salazar, 500 by Imelda Sayago, 489 by Babes Tiongson and 183 by Rene Santiago.
Gail Mata supported Bacero at Cristal with 572. Bheng Cerbito at 490 was the other bowler to complete a three-game series while Cesar Monares contributed 187-164, Pancho Cuevas 213-174 and Danny Pamintuan 181-149.
In addition to Jintarat the others that did well at Saudi Diyar were Raul delos Reyes with 581 and Nap Patayan with 573. Susan Patayan compiled 494, Epoy Santos added 174-184 and Priz Calidro 159.
